When you’re a vegan or someone who needs or chooses to eat gluten-free (or someone who seeks out anything organic), finding a dependable restaurant can be tough. Vegetarians (and their meat/seafood eating companions) on the South Shore of Long Island are in luck, as they don’t have to travel far to reach Tula Kitchen in Bay Shore (though patrons do come from all over LI and even the city to eat here).
Located in the heart of town on East Main Street, the chic restaurant is inviting and maybe even a little eccentric in style. The menu is a veggie lover’s dream: full of grilled pita and hummus, turkey and lentil burgers (gluten free bread for burgers and sandwiches), a taco bar with turkey, shrimp, fish and veggie tacos, greens galore and a plethora of the most imaginative, healthy dishes you could ask for.
Meat eaters will do fine here, especially seafood lovers as there are many fish and shrimp options, as well as plenty of chicken dishes to get your protein. Still vegetarian reigns here. Large portions of most dishes greet happy diners while live music often plays in the background.
Currently open for lunch and dinner, Tula will soon be open for breakfast as they are expanding into the space next door.
