Blue Point’s Annual Greek Fest Delivers on Food, Fun and Prizes

Kind of like how everyone is Irish on St. Patrick’s Day, everyone can be Greek for a long weekend from June 25-28 when the St. John’s Greek Orthodox Church holds its annual Greek Festival in Blue Point.

The event is a favorite for locals no matter what their denomination or background.

Obviously the wine and food are the highlights here. You’ll get more of your fill of lamb, gyros, souvlaki, pastries and all the rest of those great dishes we can’t spell (though we do know gyro is best pronounced yee-ro, more or less rhymes with hero).

But there will also be tons of games and rides for the kids, Greek music, arts & crafts, flea market and one hell (er, heck) of an annual sweepstakes drawing with a first prize of (“A NEW CAR!”), your choice between a 2015 BMW X1 S DRIVE 28i or a 2015 Ford Mustang convertible (sweet).

Second prize is a measly brand new Harley Davidson Street 750 or $6,000 (not too shabby).

Third through twelfth prizes include cool things like a granite countertop, trike, tv’s, ipad, laptop, camera, kayak, etc. some pretty serious swag.
