5 Must-Do Long Island Family Activities this Summer

The kids are out of school and it's time to create this summer's bucket list of things to do on the East End because before your know it, the lazy days of summer will melt right into the first day of school. To help you get started on your summer family bucket, we list 10 ideas.

1. Quogue Wildlife Refuge

The 305-acre Quogue Wildlife Refuge, located in Quogue, is perfect place to spend an adventurous day with the family, hiking trails, exploring the indoor nature center and meeting some of the resident animals.  Be sure to also check the refuge's calendar of events for special things happening this summer.

2. Splish Splash

Where better to spend a hot summer day than at Splish Splash, in Calverton, where you and your family can enjoy non-stop water action on all of the amusement park's rides.

3. Harbes Farm

You haven't enjoyed a summer on the East End with the family unless you experienced the sweetest corn on the East End at Harbes Family Farm. The farm's Mattituck location is a perfect place to spend a day visiting barnyard animals and watching pig races.

4. Riverhead Raceway

No matter what weekend you head over to Riverhead Raceway, in Riverhead, you are in for a treat as cars race around track where crashes are inevitable. Be sure to check the raceway's schedule because on select nights, you can watch a school bus demolition derby and fireworks too.

5. The Montauk Lighthouse

A visit to the Montauk Lighthouse is a rite of summer on the East End so pack a lunch, swimsuits and head out to the end of Long Island to enjoy the beach and visit the lighthouse, which features a museum and a gift shop.
