New Yorkers know how to live life in the fast lane. There is a constant energetic pressure that exists even while spending the weekend on the East End or going on vacation (as I just did) that is hard to eliminate. Our calendars have to be constantly filled with activities or we just can't possibly be happy. And if suddenly a weekend appears and is without guests or dinner/party engagements, we feel compelled to immediately get busy and organize something.

The Montauk Playhouse is much more than just a playhouse. On a recent visit to the impressive Tudor structure – which was originally built in 1929 to house a massive indoor tennis auditorium – I discovered the inner goings-on of the dynamic Community Center that is now housed within the walls of one of Carl Fisher's Montauk masterpieces.

Toe-Tapping Ways to Beat Cabin Fever

While lots of New Yorkers scramble south to the warm-weather states when the first rush of cold air blows in, the die-hards stay here year-round and tough it out during the winter. To be honest though, the winters here are usually so mild that it really doesn't much matter if we go or if we stay. I will admit that this year is the exception. Regardless of the amount of snowfall we get, that old adage holds true: when life hands you lemons (or in this case, cold weather), take those lemons and make lemonade. That being said, let me introduce you to the 2011 Long Island Winterfest.

When you really think about it, there should probably be more than one day a year devoted to Mom. After all those years of changing diapers, helping you with your science projects and pulling her hair out after your first fender-bender, 24 hours don't quite seem to cut it. That being said, I suggest you go the extra mile to make every Mother's Day even more special for all the mothers in your life.

A Perfect Romance

A Perfect Romance

Darrell Hammond has become a comic legend thanks to his 14 years at Saturday Night Live. He holds the SNL record as the longest running cast member, and he has impersonated the most people, including John McCain, Bill Clinton, Al Gore, Dick Cheney, Regis Philbin, and Donald Trump. Since leaving Saturday Night Live in 2009, Hammond is expanding his horizons. While his stand-up comedy is still an instrumental part of his career, he has gone on to do Broadway, television (both comedy and drama), and is returning for another summer at Bay Street Theatre in Sag Harbor to be a part of both their Comedy Club series, as well as star in their Mainstage production of Romance by David Mamet.
