As the summer heats up in August, so too does the events calendar. To kick off August, Sayville is hosting their 36th annual Summerfest from the 7th thru the 9th. Nothing says summer like a fair, a Ferris wheel ride, and a zeppole (or three, you really can't just have one).
This year Newtown Shows has taken over in the carnival operations and brings with them a multitude of fun and exciting new games and rides. General admission is free, while carnival rides, games and attractions have prices that vary. For those who like to over-indulge in rounds of the Ferris wheel consider buying at P.O.P bracelet for $35 – these allow you to pay one price and ride all day to your heart's content!
The first day of Summerfest, August 7th, brings to the Common Ground the Billy Joel tribute band, Captain Jack from 7-9pm, and a beer and wine tasting from 5pm to close. Good drinks and good tunes make for an exciting first night!
Island Harvest will also be in attendance, and Sayville's Summerfest goal is to raise 30,000 pounds (or more!) of non-perishable foods for the families in need on Long Island. Visit Island Harvest's donation booth and bring your canned contribution – or monetary contribution – and you will receive $10 off your Summerfest ticket booklet.
For the running enthusiasts the Summerfest 2015 Run will be held on Saturday August 8th with the kid's fun run starting at 8:45am, and the 4-mile run starting at 9:20 am. This run is the last of the Sayville Summer Series. The Summerfest run is $30 on the day of the race, $25 pre-registered, and the kid's fun run is free of charge.
Last but certainly not least, the Summerfest weekend closes out with its infamous classic car show on August 9th. Car enthusiasts and onlookers will certainly enjoy the display of classic cars. This can't-miss display will be on Main Street in Sayville (between Green & Gillette Ave). For more information about the car show and registering your car call Joe (631)-732-1231 or Ellen (631)-473-7604 or click here. Pre-registration cars are $20, while cars registered on the day of the event are $25. For more information about Summerfest, a list of sponsors and the events calendar visit their website.
