Patchogue is teeming with new bars and restaurants. Even bringing Nassau County folks out to see what all the fuss is about. There's one spot that might not be on your radar, but should be. Despite the fact that they don't serve alcohol, the food is where it's at – and a quick perusing of the shelves will lead you to find a Sriracha margarita mix that you can't leave (read: live) without.
Wallen's Natural Market brings a breath of fresh air to South Ocean Ave in Patchogue (just south of Four Corners), providing to the neighborhood something it has long been lacking. This natural market has such an array of produce and products it’s hard to go in for 'just one thing.’ While the shop itself is small, it's easy to get lost in this organic paradise.
Bob and Laura Wallen opened up shop in 2013 supplying Patchogue with amazing, organic, locally grown produce. Both Suffolk County natives, Bob and Laura wanted to bring to Patchogue something it had long been missing. This small, cozy establishment has everything you could want and more. Bob Wallen's goal is to always make the customer happy, and he wants them to know “it’s your store” – if you are looking for a product that you don't see available just let them know and they will try to get it in especially for you.
Wallen's has been a name in the local food industry for years, with the first Wallen's Market opening in Bellport in 1949 by Bob's grandfather. After years of working with the family business and gaining a breadth of knowledge in the industry, Bob was ready to carry on the Wallen name with his wife Laura in their own business venture.
The Wallen's also like to “support local businesses, and buy local organic produce” as much as, and as often as, they can. Wallen's Natural Market provides fresh organic produce, vitamins, herbal supplements, and homeopathic remedies. Not to mention – with the mini-kitchen in the back – Laura Wallen is often found whipping up something delicious and nutritious, be it a raw vegan scone, or a fresh salad. With a ton of gluten free, dairy free, vegan options this is a can't-miss spot for people who are devoted to maintaining a healthy diet, and lifestyle.
With Laura cooking up fresh treats in the back, and Bob occasionally being found strumming his guitar, you'll feel like you've walked into a country market rather than a Long Island store.
Wallen’s Natural Market is located at 83 S. Ocean Ave, Patchogue.
