Dinner Rush (And Danny Aiello!) in Huntington
The Cinema Arts Centre in Huntington is hosting a fundraiser on April 26. The event will include a screening of the 2000 film Dinner Rush and a meet and greet with director Bob Giraldi and star Danny Aiello. Instead of popcorn and candy, Butera’s Restaurant will serve up a tasting menu of the movie’s featured dishes and the food will be paired with wine from Bottles and Cases. The evening is open to the public, though members of the Cinema Arts Centre receive discounted tickets.
The History of Ramen
Learn more about the dish that likely got you through college. On April 14, Dr. George Solt will hold a free lecture at Stony Brook University exploring how ramen became Japan’s national food. The following day, chef Mamie Nishide will host a hands on noodle making workshop. The class will cover how to make Japanese broth, noodles and traditional accompaniments such as egg and braised pork. The workshop is $20.
Beer Dinner @ The Lark
The Lark in East Northport is hosting a beer dinner on April 28 featuring Pennsylvania based Troegs Brewing Company. Five courses will be served, each paired with a different Troegs beer. Every dish is created with the accompanying beer in mind, covering a variety of styles and flavors. Advance reservations are required and can be made by phone.
Brewology, the Speonk gastropub, is coming to Port Jefferson and will call the former Tequila Jacks on Main Street home. Construction has taken longer than expected due to rough winter weather, but owner Roger Bencosme is optimistic for a spring opening. The location will feature a full bar and extensive craft beer list, with a seasonally inspired food menu. Future plans include in house beer brewing classes.
Another Week of Prix-Fixe
Long Island Restaurant Week kicks off Sunday, April 26 and lasts eight days. Participating restaurants will offer a $27.95 three-course prix-fixe menu.
