Last year, Main Street in Patchogue was the site of the only New Year’s Eve ball dropped east of Times Square. Although the start time was switched from midnight to 9 p.m. and moved from Four Corners to the square outside Capital One Bank, the event was a huge success, the ball was awesome and an illumination/pyrotechnics show by Grucci impressed a few thousand people who came out for the countdown. This year, The Patchogue Chamber of Commerce is again looking to hold their Midnight on Main Street party on New Year’s Eve. They’re also doing some crowdfunding on gofundme to help with costs so anyone interested in chipping in can visit gofundme.com/midnightonmainst to donate. This year, the countdown will again occur at 9 p.m. (party starts at 8 p.m.), serving as both an ideal time for the whole family to enjoy the festivities as well as a good starting point of the big night out for the hard core revelers. Grucci will be on hand lighting the sky with something scaled down from their full fireworks shows but still cool, and food vendors will be all over and you’ll certainly be able to find yourself some Blue Point brews. Bring on 2016.
