Early next year, Blue Point Brewing Company, the Yankees of our local craft beer industry, will begin construction on a new tasting room. The new space, which will overlook the Patchogue River, will be part of renovation projects planned on several of the buildings on the brewery’s existing property (boatyard), which currently block the view of the river from the tasting room. Most of the work will be aimed at increasing production, distribution, that sort of thing, basically getting more Blue Point beer out in the world and into our bellies. Plans for the new tasting room are still being finalized, but early signs and an artist rendering point to a large, spacious room with large windows to take advantage of the water views of the adjacent Patchogue River. At this time, there are no plans for a restaurant, but rather they want to invite local eateries to feature their grub. We can’t wait. Not that we don’t like the whole boatyard vibe they’ve got going on there now, especially for those pop up concerts in the summer, but we’re hoping the new tasting room will open up the waterside vibe and help remind people of the great potential along the Patchogue River.
