The Dirty Secrets of Food Marketing

So, the presenter in this video is not actually in food marketing. She's an actress that was paid to do this presentation by Catsnake Film as a way to promote awareness on the dreadful standards for food labeling we have in this country.

The facts and pictures are absolutely true, however. I believe we're actually heading in the right direction in this country when it comes to the food we're putting in our bodies. Local farmers markets are hugely popular across the country, and more and more attention is being paid to sourcing local, organic produce. We seem to be lacking way behind in the meat and dairy departments though.

While we are seeing a resurgence of locally-sourced milk, cheese, and egg products, that movement is far behind where we are with produce. And when it comes to meat, it's not even close. I believe, along with many others, that portion of the food revolution would come much faster if more people knew where their food was coming from, how it was being raised, and if we actually put a little effort into some real standards for food labeling.

Imagine what would happen if that steak or chicken you bought at the supermarket had to have a picture of the pen the animal was kept in on it ...
