While stand-up paddleboarding is not a new water sport, it has taken off on the East End where there are a number of companies that offer an opportunity to rent a paddleboard and enjoy a day on some of the calmer waterways in the Hamptons.
Adventure Paddleboards, which launched in the summer of 2012 in Hampton Bays, has been making a big splash among locals and visitors to the Hamptons. The company, owned by Cherryl Bradley, a professional dancer and amateur surfer, offers tours on the Shinnecock Bay and a "Paddleboard to Live Music" every Wednesday night from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Inn Spot on the Bay.
For those headed to the North Fork this July, the company also has a Sup & Sip adventure, where paddlers can enjoy a paddle on the Mattituck inlet and then take part in a wine tasting at a local winery.
Adventure Paddleboards not only provides daily rentals, but also offers drop-in lessons and exercise classes, as well as yoga paddles. Prices range from $75 for a guided group adventure to $95 for a Paddle 4 Punch or Sup & Sip trip, or $35 for a drop-in class.
