Polo for All

By now, many people are familiar with Ignacio 'Nacho' Figueras, the handsome Ralph Lauren model who appears on billboards and glossy magazines, and who also serves as an ambassador for the sport of polo. Move over Nacho, because the Polo Girls have hit the scene, creating ripples in the polo industry and making an impact by growing the sport of polo, particularly among women.

In the male-dominated world of polo, where men far outnumber women, the Polo Girls are a breath of fresh air. The group is undoubtedly making a breakthrough as more women are picking up mallets and joining the ranks of their fellow male counterparts.

The Polo Girls Society is an organization dedicated to bringing polo to the masses. It consists of a group of ambitious and bright young women whose goal is to share polo with the world and make the sport accessible to all. Libby Scripps, President of Development and Founder of the group, is a talented 28-year old who grew up in Palm Beach, FL. Scripps has been riding horses since the age of three and playing polo for 18 years. Her accomplishments span far beyond her age (she is an entrepreneur and an experienced producer, as well as a philanthropist) and she is a force to be reckoned with. Together with the other members of the group, who all share intelligence, drive, and beauty, as well as a love for horses and polo, the girls make for a passionate team dedicated to providing opportunities for young people of all walks of life to play polo.

When the members of the Polo Girls Society are not playing polo, they can be found helping newcomers to the sport find places to play, offering training clinics, and bringing the excitement of the sport to the masses. They serve as a valuable resource to new polo players, and drum up enthusiasm for the game with finesse and elegance.

One integral component of the Polo Girls Society is the Scholarship Fund, which serves to help intercollegiate players achieve their dreams of making it to the professional levels. One way the group raises money for their scholarship fund is by hosting fundraising events. One such event took place last year in the Hamptons and was sponsored by Calypso St. Barth.

While the focus of Polo Girls is on the sport itself, the group is currently branching out beyond the polo industry and working hard on building a platform for the sport of polo. This summer, Polo Girls will return to the Hamptons to host two to three events (location and dates TBD). The group is looking to grow the organization and needs sponsors and donations in order to continue making dreams come true. Everybody is welcome to join Polo Girls!
