Long Island Restaurant Week is back! From Sunday, November 6th through Sunday, November 13th, you can again dine at various top Long Island restaurants for an extremely affordable price. Almost two hundred restaurants in both Nassau and Suffolk counties will participate in the sixth-annual event, presented by WordHampton Public Relations and Long Island Restaurant News.

What's all the fuss about, you ask? Tara Berkoski of WordHampton sums it up pretty well:

"Every year, both diners and restaurants get excited for the arrival of Long Island Restaurant Week. Diners hope to find new favorite restaurants while they enjoy great meals at a discounted rate. Restaurants fill their seats during the slow season and have the chance to turn new customers into regulars. Everyone wins and that's what it's all about!"

The eight-day promotion features unique three-course, $24.95 prix-fixe dinner menus at all participating restaurants. The set price includes an appetizer, entrée, and dessert. Beverages, gratuity, and tax are not included. The special dinners are offered all night, except Saturday when it is offered only until 7 PM.

Depending upon where you are and what you want to eat, the choices are abundant. In Nassau County, some of the notable participants include Albertson's Mitch & Toni's American Bistro, a new restaurant serving seasonal, local contemporary American cuisine; Glen Cove's Italian restaurant Tappo; and Roslyn's Besito, one of Long Island's best authentic Mexican eateries also known for their Tequila selection.

In Suffolk County, some of the participants include lounge-restaurant Blue in Blue Point; Cutchogue's recently relocated family-owned Touch of Venice; Greenport's waterfront favorite Scrimshaw; The Grill Room in Hauppauge; David Loewenberg's little | red and red|bar brasserie in Southampton, and Fresno in East Hampton; East Hampton celebrity favorite Nick & Toni's; Gulf Coast Kitchen at the Montauk Yacht Club; and Southold's renowned North Fork Table & Inn.

Due to the overwhelming success of the existing November Fall Restaurant Week and the fact that businesses also need an extra push before the busy summer season, the promotion is now being held twice a year – once in the fall and once in the spring. The second annual Spring Long Island Restaurant Week will be held from April 22 April 29 — not to be confused with Hamptons Restaurant Week — which will take place from March 18 through March 25.

This year's first annual Spring Long Island Restaurant Week attained impressive numbers despite the down economy. Total restaurant revenue from the 168 participants was estimated to be $5,199,936 with New York State taking in an estimated $285,028.80 in tax dollars. According to preliminary results from post-event surveys, participating restaurants served an estimated total of 134,400 meals.

In order to make reservations you can either phone the restaurants directly, or book a table online via OpenTable. Phone numbers for participating restaurants are listed on the Long Island Restaurant Week website. Be sure to book ahead as availability is not guaranteed. For updates and news, follow Long Island Restaurant Week on Facebook. This promotion is a deal not to be missed. What are you waiting for? Start booking your tables now. Enjoy!
